RIDE TOGETHER, THRIVE TOGETHER
Eatonville was founded in 1887, and it is the first incorporated African American town in the United States. It was incorporated by a group of black citizens who sought to establish a community with self-governance and economic independence. The town is also known for being the home of Zora Neale Hurston, a prominent writer and anthropologist of the Harlem Renaissance. Eatonville's legacy is celebrated for its role in black history and culture, particularly through the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts and the annual MLK Parade.
